CONFERENCE HIGHLIGHTS

ORAL HISTORY NARRATION & RECORDING: a room dedicated to screening oral histories of Palestinians. Another station where new oral histories are recorded by participants at the conference.

FILM SHOWING - CHRONICLES OF THE REFUGEE: (Friday, August 8th at 5:00 p.m.) A 6-part documentary film series looking at the global Palestinian refugee experience over the last 60 years. This is the first documentary film to look at the global Palestinian refugee experience over the last 60 years. Part VI which we will be showing focuses on issues of leadership and representation, from the perspective of what kind of representation have Palestinians had over time and what do they want now.

CHILDREN'S PROGRAMS THROUGHOUT THE WEEKEND: The conference will feature a children's track which is comprised of 4 workshops and numerous other ongoing activities. The workshops include a teleconference session with children in Balata Refugee Camp and interactive exercises meant to enhance children's understanding of the history of Palestine. The workshops are intended for children aged 7 to 14.

YOUTH LED PROGRAM: (Saturday, August 9th) In addition to the Children's track, there is also a youth track which includes a workshop conceived, organized, and led by youth from the Bay Area and Chicago. It will truly be an opportunity for our next generation of Palestinian-Americans to assume leadership, assert their ownership of the movement, and to enhance their skills for doing so into the future.
