Letter of Invitation to the Detroit Meeting

Letter of Invitation to the Detroit Meeting
26 May 2006

We would like to invite you to participate in a national meeting of activists representing a wide spectrum of Palestinian political persuasions and social groups in the US. The meeting will be held in Detroit, Michigan on June 23-25, 2006, and will focus on developing ways to mobilize the Palestinian American community to affirm our Palestinian narrative and assert our right to:

  • self-determination and equality
  • return of the refugees to their original homes, lands, properties and villages (a natural right supported by international law and UN Resolution 194),
  • end of Zionist occupation and colonization of Palestine, including Jerusalem.

The meeting's specific objectives are:

  1. The gathering will explore the idea of calling for futurenational event(s), including, but not limited to, the convening of a popular conference for the Palestinian community in the US.
  2. The meeting will also aim to enhance the exchange of experiences and resources among Palestinian activists in the US in order to develop practical steps to better support Palestinian national and human rights
